What is our evidence that Black people need police? Is it logic? Is it fear?

For a long time, I just held the belief that I needed police. Not exactly sure why, it was just implanted from birth.

In Minneapolis from 2007 to 2016, less than half of the 366 homicides resulted in an arrest. In North Minneapolis areas with concentrated Black populations and high homicide rates, arrest rates were fewer than 1 in 3 homicides.

In our neighborhood, not much prevention, no real intervention, no justice and no rehabilitation for the less than a third that were arrested for homicide (most of them will be returning to these very streets, these very cycles.)

Is this a good return on investment?

thoughts.

In each of these community engagement PR photos, the police officer still has their gun, and prominent. Why?

Have you ever had a police officer arrive and save you from harm? save you from a crime in progress?
